The Future is Elliot Rodger.
- Title
- The Future is Elliot Rodger.
- Description
- This tweet gained widespread attention after Coinbase founder Brian Armstrong announced his marriage to Angela Meng. The tweet features images of tech company leaders and their partners at the same event, notably showing Armstrong’s ex-girlfriend, Indonesian actress Raline Shah, instead of Meng. It went viral, reaching 979K views after Jesse Powell retweeted it with the comment, “someone needs to study how much market cap is driven by Asian tiger wives.” The reference to Elliot Rodger, of Malaysian Chinese and British descent, invites complex discussions about multiracial marriage, misogyny, and incel ideology. Asian women are often at the forefront of fetishistic stereotypes, implying that their relationships must not be rooted in genuine love.
